My Kid needs better foot coordination

Many parents and coaches will find that kids often lack foot coordination and speed. Of course, to a certain extent this is natural. All kids will develop at a different rate- but at the same time it’s important to introduce environments where this can be improved and developed.

One of the best tools by far is the speed ladder. This has only gained popularity in the soccer world the last couple years even though it’s been a staple device in gridiron training for years. The speed ladder is perfect for developing coordinated feet. It teaches different foot sequencing, gives instant feedback on their foot position (they will step on rungs if foot position is off), and once a drill is achieved with coordination then speed can be encouraged.

It’s important to of course start with the simple ladder drills and go from there. Alternatives to speed ladder is using a hopscotch board or drawing your own lines on the concrete to work with. Coach T$ will have some speed ladder drills posted for both coaches and players to use.
