THE LOCKER ROOM

What do kids ACTUALLY need to get started ??

Start with the 3 basics : cleats, ball, and shinguards.

Assuming the club provides a jersey then they are pretty much set with these 3 items !

After this I would opt for a shoe bag, water bottle, and duffle bag.

Lastly adding in some additional training equipment once they have shown they love the sport

I would suggest : cones, a mini ball, and of course T$ soccer book if you haven’t already gotten.

Theres many options for gathering the above , Ill list coach T$ recommendations below.  much love . Current as of Dec 2025

Free options are hand me downs from your older brother/friend/ or local coach. Kids will go through cleats fast so I would recommend a cleat that fits , feels comfortable, and of course that they like as well. Local Stores such as Dicks, Target, Walmart all have many options as well. For these young ages its less about durability and more about comfort. They will outgrow their shoes fast. I like the adidas mini ball because its foam core meaning you dont have to pump it up. This is something that can last a long time and will help build their skills over time ! Great investment for your young soccer player
