My Kid is starting soccer soon – How should they prepare ?

Start with fun – At this age it is all about excitement, movement, learning, building confidence and having fun !

Get the basic gear – for ages 5 and 6 a size 3 soccer ball, some shorts,  a pair of socks and some shinguards sets them up for success ! Assuming they will be playing on grass ..then some comfortable cleats would be good. Ideally you want them to fit snug and feel comfortable.

Its Best if the kids can get comfortable with the ball BEFORE thier first practice.  Try some of the coach T$ youtube videos as a starting point and add others you come across. A couple 5/10 minute sessions at home can go a long ways to build their confidence.

Encourage them ! make sure they feel supported. Remember this is for fun. There should be zero pressure at this age. If they end up gravitated towards the sport they will start to love it .

Explain to them  what practice will look like ( you can ask the coach prior what to expect )

Other things to consider having at practice is a light jacket ( weathe dependent ), a shoe bag or grocery bag ( for muddy conditions ) and a water bottle or small snack
